At Dunlap Community Unit School District #323, we are committed to nurturing the whole child through a comprehensive approach to social emotional learning (SEL). Our district has implemented the evidence-based Second Step curriculum across all K-5 classrooms, providing students with essential skills in emotional regulation, empathy, and problem-solving.
Supporting this curriculum is our dedicated Behavior Intervention Support Team (BIST), which promotes positive behavior and creates safe, supportive learning environments. Every school in our district is staffed with a school counselor, along with a team of skilled social workers and psychologists who provide targeted support to students’ mental health and well-being.
Our student services team has received specialized training in the PREPaRE Crisis Response model, ensuring that we are prepared to respond effectively and compassionately to any crisis situation. Together, these initiatives reflect our commitment to fostering resilience, inclusivity, and academic success for every student.
